well i'd say, smbdy for somebody and smthng for something... but aish, i've bn tryna wean myself off shrtng wrds coz i then snt out a very imptnt leta to a client with U instead of you... how embrssng..

in China, we do it like:
something: sth./sg.
somebody: sb.
