It's just a movie. Don't try to make sense out of it.

As willis only 'sees what he wants to see', namely that he doesn't want to particularly acknowledge (subconscioulsy) that he is dead, he doesn't see the other dead people that the boy does. none of the ghosts do, which is why they act out their lives over and over, not realising that they are actually 'haunting'. I don't think the ring fell off his wife's finger, I think she was holding HIS ring, she was holding it while mourning, which must have been a part of his realisation that he was dead - when did she get to take it off him? It's like when he finally discovered his death wound, and remembered how it got there. The boy probably already saw that, which was why he was scared of the guy at first. No other ghost seems to notice their wounds. The door was always locked by the table because it was the room he spent the most time in, and the memories of it were probably too painful. It probably also freaked her out a little to find that it was constantly open too, so she used a barricade. (i haven't seen the film in like years, so some of this may not be right, but it's how i remember it.)
Also, look at people's eyes and who they address when speaking to the boy and willis... no one acknowledges him or looks at him. Which is why i thought it was fantastic when they did that 'late anniversary scene' and she was acting so frosty. There's so many clues in there, maybe u should watch it a few more times. great film.

The first and the second questions has the same answer: the boy said to Bruce: "they (the ghosts, including Bruce, who didn't know at that time that he is dead) only see what they want to see", that means that Bruce didn't know he's dead yet (he thought he was shot by his patient, and was healed after six months, and resumed his life, but he actually died instantly) so, he was living a normal life like nothing happened: he couldn't see the other ghosts and he could access to the basement, which was blocked by his wife when he died, he used to work in the basement, so when he died, she didn't need the basement anymore, so she blocked it, but you can notice that at the time he thought he was alive, he was always accessing the basement (like when he saw his wife with a man and he got angry), and that proves that when he thought he was alive, he just acted according to it, also, everything he did while he thought he was alive was an imagination, like going to his clinic everyday to see his patients, going to the store to buy things, everything he did was an imagination because "he wanted to see it, and he didn't discover the truth yet".
Your second question's answer: when he saw the ring falling down, he realized that the ring was not in his hand (the ring wasn't in his hand since he was shot and killed, but he didn't noticed it before until this moment, so the ring is the reason that made him discover the truth), also, he suddenly remembered the boy saying "i see dead people, they don't know that they are dead", so he realized that the boy was referring to him when he told him that, and he he was dead since the incident, also, all the time he thought that his wife is not talking to him because she's angry at him, so he discovered that she was not talking to him because he simply was dead, by the way, this movie is the greatest movie in history and Bruce Willis is the best actor in the history, this movie (along with armageddon are the only movies that made me really hard until i had a headache).
I hope i helped you, i've tried my best :)
Regards..

I think that the reason that Willis doesn't see the ghosts is because he doesn't believe he is a ghost and so doesn't see them. The part about his wife dropping the wedding ring is that it is his, not hers. She took it off him before he was buried and saved it. So, when she dropped it and it was his, he began to realize that he was dead. As for the blocked stair, again I think it was because he didn't realize he was dead and so saw things the way he did when he was alive. That's just my opinion though, other people might think something else.

At one point in the movie, the kid states that the dead people only see what they want to see - I think this may help answer why he doesn't see other ghosts, and why he didn't notice the basement blocked sooner. As for the ring, was it not his ring that she dropped (she'd been holding it before she fell asleep)- which is when he realised he's not wearing it anymore.....his realisation from that is that he's dead. That's my 2 cents anyway!

he met the little boy after he died cause he sees dead people, there were all kinds of "warning signs " that he was dead that might not of gotten your attention until after the movie.. one he wore the same clothes in the whole movie, 2, the doorknob on his office door was red, 3. perscription bottle lettering was red and so on, he did not see the other "dead people" with the boy because he had no idea he was dead. as far as the ring falling , it didnt fall off her finger but fell out of her hand when she was grieving this was the final warning sign in the movie to let u know what u have just watched.
this movie is brillant and one u can watch over and over again and pick out things u never caught on to the first time u watched it.
he was in his realm thinking that he was alive and treating the boy as a patient since he was a doctor .this is why he was doubting what the boy saw but infact the boy was trying to tell him he was dead.
if u watch the movie u will notice that his mother never talks to bruce willis . he enters the room and has a seat and the mother who we think is just frustrated gets up to leave them talk ,
the restaurant he never moves the chair to sit with his wife.also why is she watching their wedding video if she is having an affair ? this is what bruce thinks.
i suggest u watch this over again it will make alot more sense to u .
i loved it and have watched it about 9 times so far and still pick out different things i missed.

In the movie the child tells Willis that dead people are walking around just like everyone else, but they don't know they are dead...they see what they want to see and this is why Willis doesn't see all the things that you mentioned.

It's all about how we perceive reality.
If we accept that Willis' ghost character was in a different realm, then it is likely that his realm was created by the remains of his conscious mind that was trapped on our plane of existence.
It is likely that all the ghosts within the movie existed within their own self created delusions.
The above is supported by "real world" sightings of spirits who walk through walls, or are half submerged beneath floor boards. In the ghosts time, those walls weren't there, and the floors were much lower, but they can't see the differences as they're stuck in there self imposed reality dysfunction.
Only the Kid in the movie could break through their illusions and communicate with the disenfranchised spirits.
If they could see other ghosts then surely they would interact with them and set up some sort of dead guy support group in an effort to help them move on :-)

He doesn't believe him because he doesn't know or is in denial of his own death. This explains why he doesn't see other spirits also. The ring falling on the floor is his wedding ring. She must have taken it off his finger before his cremation, burial or whatever ritual she had performed for his funeral. It is symbolic of his realization that he is dead. The table wasn't there before. She moved it after a while because she couldn't bear going down to his office.

1. Dr. Malcolm Crowe hasn't acknowledged his death and cannot cross over until he he finishes the unfinished business he left behind... that's were Cole comes in... he was there as a way of rectifying the situation with Vincent who could also see dead people. Dr. Malcolm Crowe had unfinished business he needed to rectify before he could acknowledge his death and passing over.
2. His wife feels his presence as he could talk to her because he was in her thoughts as it was their anniversary. The ring dropping was the proverbial 'penny dropping'.
