Fisrtly remove all excess screeds done previously,
then apply brick bat coba, (churkhi) and give a proper gradient for the flow of water to the rain water drain pipes,
also see that a proper skirting is given around the perimeter of the roof parapet wall at least 8 inches in height,
the top screed must be in coarse sand with a rich 53 grade cement mortar and mix a proper commercially available waterproofing liquid compound, (polymers)
Curing should be proper.
best water proofing method that will last you for at least 10 years.

once there is a leakage in the roof it cannot be cured 100% at all by any practices..the only thing is can try with few options like lime coat with cement end to end covering the roof perimeter wall up to a height of 45cms.at least and if possible then finish it with chips floor bed on top of it before rainy season and do also check the beams of the top most floor .some time the laekages are passed by the joints of the beams and slab of the top floor. all the best

The only shure way is to remove the old cauking and get down to the bare roof. Then use a membrane ( one piece ) to cover the area. Once water has found a way in there is no stopping it until you change the slope and provide an escape for the water

Cement expands and contracts a great deal, you need to use a fiberglass membrane over the crack or leak, that is flexable, and also the Tar substance must also be flexable.
