All I could find was a reference that said "We used to sing it at our church but had to stop, I think for copyright reasons." and no words other than the ones you quoted.
I also found a reference to a song/poem called Five Stones of Time

James Taylor and Joni Mitchell have both recorded songs called Little David. James Taylor's is the spiritual, Little David Play on your Harp and Joni's is a longer one, in similar vein, about David's music, not about his fight with Goliath!
