Good question. I guess friendships to them are important, and they probably notice you don't feel happy with your boyfriend of 7 years -- because that sure is a long time, and it might not be as fun as it was earlier in the relationship (just a guess), or they notice you haven't been taken out, so they want you to feel happy, stuff like that, and want to take you out. I don't know, but that's just my 2 cents in.

After 7 years, your b/f is probably feeling too safe in his "security zone" and doesn't see the need of going out with you?
On the other hand, your friends probably find you interesting and fun to be with? Your b/f is getting what he needs from you without going out. So, is your behaviour encouraging him to continue to do so?

Some people find it very hard to compliment.
That does not necessarily mean that they don't appreciate you, I think it has more to do with them, than you.
Perhaps they did not get enough praise as a child or something, I really don't know...
My boyfriend is also like that, I know he likes me, and that is fine, he shows it in other ways.

Because you've let him get away with it for 7 years. If you want someone who is going to take you out, dump him and get someone who will. After this long of you letting him walk over you, he's not going to change.

well your friends proablly just treat you and want to hang out. for your bf have you talked to him about taking you out? does he have the money to take you out?
