Yeah, well, since the EU is made up of so many different cultures it is going to be hard to find someone who has one opinion of all EU citizens.

My family is now hosting our third German student, along with one from Korea. We have hosted two boys from Germany, one girl from Germany, a girl from Hong Kong. We are also temporarily hosting a boy from Vietnam.
I have to say I have liked and enjoyed all of these kids. From my experiences, I LIKE European people. Furthermore, once they get to know us they like us.
You know what? Absence may make the heart grow fonder but it may also keep the heart from having any kind of opinion at all. And familiarity may breed contempt but it can also breed respect.
I know there will be generalized remarks in response to this question. Let me be specific. There are good people and bad people all over the world. There are good Europeans. There are bad Europeans. There are good Americans. There are bad Americans. Do you want me to go on? I don't think I need to.
The EU may or may not be a good thing for Europe. Time will tell.

I don't think Nelli meant EU as in European Union. I think Nellie meant EU as in Europe.
My opinion of Europeans? Not much different than Americans. There are sensible Europeans and there are Europeans that make no sense. Same as Americans. There are humble Europeans and there are obnoxious Europeans. Same as Americans.
I believe that it would be presumptuous of me to judge all Europeans by what I see on these boards or the impression I get from what I see on television. Just as it *is* presumptuous of Europeans to judge all Americans. Especially on these Yahoo boards. If I was from Europe and the main interaction I had with Americans were on these Yahoo boards I would think the vast majority of Americans are complete imbeciles. That is far from the truth. The vast number of Americans do not know these boards exist and if they saw the behavior on these boards (by some Americans) they would be appalled at the behavior that takes place. I think it is safe to assume that the majority of Americans on these boards are young Americans who for the most part aren't qualified to take part in some of the discussions that take place. I am sure that there are some Europeans that fall into the same category.
Regardless if we are European or American or Asian or African it would be preferrable to not jump to conclusions or attempt to class each nationality as one stereotype.
So... what do I think of Europeans? There are some I wouldn't waste my energy on. Same for Americans though.

My opinion is that Europeans are very formal and practical. I always miss the smiling faces of Americans while I am travelling through Europe. I can easily define the attitudes of Europeans. No offence meant, Europeans are still bearing the previous colonial attitude, some snobbish feelings .
Especially I am sick of the fake smiles.

Hey let's all cast stereotypes! Yay!
I think the thing to remember here is that Europeans are not all the same, no more than all Americans are the same.
Also it is worth noting there _is_ a small difference between "the EU" and "Europe".
Rawlyn.

As a resident of Scotland, we are forced by the EU to accept their refuse - the East Europeans who have flooded our shores (never mind the rest of the world - they are over here as well). Britain is the softest touch in terms of benefits, so they will try to get here before anywhere else. My city (Glasgow) has more "asylum seekers" than any other city in the UK (source: ITV news) and I am often the only native on a crowded bus home. F*ck the EU - we should get out as fast as possible.

There are good and bad and ugly Europeans just as there are good, bad, and ugly Americans. Is that a surprise? A more generalized statement is that the Europeans tend to be snobs and think they are smarter and better than the "yanks" and the Americans are brash and just don't give a damn what the Europeans think.

EU is an attempt to become one. Fortunately there are too many countries and thus cultures plus political agenda's. They would like to be seen as mature but will never become. Too many different stakes involved and as usual UK, France or Germany see themselves as leaders ;-)
No worries, before EU gets really powerful, India or China is already taking over leadership.
