Its a tall lava lamp but it doesnt light up very well as opposed to smaller versions which look fantastic. You cant even see it in the dark, it looks nothing like the picture in the catalogue. Can I take it back and swap it for something else? Thanx

Argos are pretty good at exchanging / refunding items but you must have the receipt. I have returned electricial items before for various reasons without any problem. For some reason they wont allow returns on digital cameras.

You could try putting a higher wattage bulb in your lamp - just check the maximum allowed wattage on the box first.

Yes, if it is a lamp that doesn't provide enought light then it is not fit for the purpose you bought it for. Take it back, with the receipt and ask for a refund. Do not be fobbed off if they offer you a credit note as you are entitled to your money back!! This applies to all shops - not just Argos!

As long as its within the 16 day exchange limit and you have the receipt, you should be able to get a refund or exchange it for something of equal value, make sure you take your credit/visa card with you if you purchased it in this way or they will only refund you in Argos vouchers. Hope this helps you.

yes, because Argos is a catalogue company they have to have a distant selling agreement, this means you get 14 ( or 16 ) days to exchange even if the product is OK.

Excludes some products for hygene reasons,

This does not apply to other high street shops, they exchange becuase of good will, with Argos its a legal requirement

Since it clearly is not up to the standard you were led to believe, then yes under the Sale of Goods Act you are entitled to a full refund of the purchase price of the item. You may then choose as to whether you wish to purchase another item from the same store or go elsewhere

Yep, you can take it back as long as you can prove you brought it from Argos (ie receipt of card statement etc). Under the sale of goods act it should do what its been sold to you as doing. ie if its a light, it should 'light', a washing machine should wash.

So if the picture and description show it as a 'bright light' then that is what it should do otherwise its 'misrepresentation'

Yes, but they will insist on all of the packaging being intact. You have 14 days to return goods under the Consumer Credit Act (or something like that).

of course you can you have customer rights. Just go into Argos and go to the returns desk. Make sure you take your receipt but even if you have lost it you can still try.
