Don't fret. It won't help. Most likely everything will be fine. It is not at all unusual for a baby to be in breech position at 25 weeks gestation. As the baby grows, it will very likely move in a normal head-down position. The odds are very good.

However, if the baby remains in breech position, at some point your obstetrician may try to manually reposition the baby by manipulating your stomach. If this does not work, you are destined for a Caesarian section.

Caesarian sections should be avoided when possible, but they are a common and one of the safer surgeries. In fact there are some benefits to both mother and child, as well as drawbacks.

If you are crying over the money, well that is a concern. Caesarian's are more expensive and require more follow-up, more healing, and more time off work on the average.

However, it is still very likely that the baby will be in a normal head-down position by the time of delivery.

About 3 of 100 babies are in a breech (butt presentation) position at delivery and require a C-section. However at 28 weeks about 25 of 100 babies are in breech position. So most of them will move into a head-presentation in the last weeks of pregnancy (gestation.) Talk with your doctor as there may be other factors to consider. Commonly, all goes well in the situation you describe.

Congratulations, and may you have a happy, healthy baby!

P.S. Once the baby gets in the head-down position it will stay there because of the shape and weight of the baby' head as it grows. As you can see from the numbers, 22 of 25 babies in the breech position at 28 weeks will be delivered in the normal head-down position.

Your doctor should have explained this to you when he told you that your baby is breech. Shame on him/her. A breech baby means that your baby is positioned to come out butt first or in some cases feet first. At 25 weeks the doctor should be able to turn your baby. So that it is no longer breech. If the doctor will not turn the baby, and the baby does not straighten it's self out, you may have to have a c-section. As having a normal birth could put you and your baby at risk. But you are only 25 weeks along many babies are in the breech position at that stage of pregnancy.

You really should be talking to your doctor about this.
Good luck.

RELAX! You are only 25 weeks along, you still have a long way to go till you deliver. Babies change position all the time. If the baby is still in the breech position when you get close to deliver, the Dr's can try and change the position.

hey! PLEASE DONT WORRY! =)
You have plenty of time for your baby to turn around! some babys are just head down really early but at 25weeks you shouldnt even be worrying yet! Breech baby means he has his feet point down instead of his head which makes it harder to have the baby vaginally. I think these days they usually do cesarean's for a breech baby because of the possible complications. Some doctors will actually attemp at turning the baby around themselves which you should ask your doctor about, its called 'external cephalic version' they just use their hands to move the baby from the outside BUT there can also be complications with that aswell, more serious ones than your baby just being breech.
Just dont stress about it, your baby will turn if/when he is ready and if not you will have a cesarean. They are very very safe. Ask your doctor for more information too.

All that it means is that the baby's head is not in the correct position. Do not worry about it yet! You have until about 33 weeks for baby to engage into the correct position. I was in the exact same boat with my second baby. She turned at 30 weeks and settled in place. I had natural birth with her. If at 33 weeks your baby is still breach I think that there is the possiblity of the doctor physically turning the baby. You must just check on that with your doctor. Good luck and stop stressing!

When I was pregnant with my second child I was told that she was breech when I was about 29 weeks pregnant. However she turned on her own. My doctor told me that she would probably turn on her own since I was only 29 weeks. You should talk to your doctor more about it. Sometimes they turn on their own and sometimes they don't. You need to calm down though because the crying and stress from worrying about this is not good for you or the baby. There are books and information on the Internet if you want to do research on your own before talking to your doctor. Best of luck to you.

you've have a long way to go in your pregnancy so try not to worry most babies get in to the breech postition and normal move out into the right place later on. try not to worry but if you are really bothered then contact your midwife she will help you and give you all the information you need. good luck hope all goes well for you and baby.

It just means the baby is positioned wrong for delivery. It does not mean the child will stay that way and Yes they can be turned or delivered with no Ill effects. My youngest Daughter was breach. Butt down with one leg behind her head. She is 22 years old now and fine. It will be OK.
