We have had an influx on non-smoking recently being banned from the majority of public places due tot he health risks it poses. Well now that has been implamented should we turn to people who drink. I mean it damages your helth just as much and you very rarekly see a fight outside a club where there thretaning to beat each other up with a cigarette it's usually a bottle. and lest be honest no one has ever fallen over in ther own puke because they OD'd on nicotene that evening.

No, people are going to do what they are going to do. You can't save people from themselves.

Yes drinking can lead to health problems if abused, however, smoking can lead to major health problems even if taken in moderation.

Drinking is also a cultural thing, and when it was tried in the US during the 20's and 30's it lead to an explosion of criminality.

some towns and cities are trying to tackle alcohol abuse nd anti social behaviour, I know when I was a drug managements officer we met the prime minsters adviser and the main theme was "what about alcohol related offending".. we got little if any productive comments or feedback.. It is one war that needs raging.. but again should be aimed at anti social, rather than the whole of the brewery trade.. People have to learn to take responsibility for them selves, its too easy to blame pubs.. we need to self monitor and be responsible for our own actions and communities too.

Drinking DOES affect the health of others. Drunk driving kills/maims lots of innocent sober folks in my area, not to mention damage to property. And while not urinating down my neck, intoxicated people do urinate down the sides of my building or just about anywhere else. Not to say I would favor banning or further restricting it. I just feel smokers were unfairly pounced upon.

Yes people that drink should be picked on as equally as smokers, fat people, old people and god knows what people, everyone and everything seems to have been picked on lately so now its the drinkers turn for a change.

Of course. The sooner the government cracks down on binge drinkers the better. Hopefully with a different PM the UK will crack down on various issues, including this one.

I know for a fact that most violent crimes in Britain involve the victim or offender under the influence of alcohol.

I'm afraid it is time to ban or ration it.

I think the issue with smoking was that it affected OTHER peoples health with passive smoking. When drinkers start pi55ing down other peoples necks, I will back the ban.
