The icon will only go away if you purchase a genuine advantage kit for around £61 (if your copy is genuine and there has been a mistake you must let them know and have proof) while it is counterfeit they have the right to monitor/scan your systems, and can prosecute if they see that you are still using counterfeit software. Go to microsoft.com for more information, you won't get in trouble if you didn't realise you purchased copied software and buy genuine Microsoft software. . Hope that helps.

Yes you can...
I have done this and it works....
Word of warning....ONLY DO THIS IF YOU FOLLOW IT TO THE LETTER !! never fool around with the REGISTRY !!

Follow this......

Lauch Windows Task Manager.
End wgatray.exe process in Task Manager.
Restart Windows XP in Safe Mode.
Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32.
Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache.
Lauch RegEdit.
Browse to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify
Delete the folder ‘WgaLogon’ and all its contents
Reboot Windows XP.

For some reason i couldnt copy and paste the whole line..so it should read.....
SOFTWARE\Microsoft......
Winlogon\Notify

enjoy !!

PS...I actually discovered you dont need to reboot in safe mode.Just follow the instruction to close the Wgatray.exe then skip the safe mode bit , just go straight to the registry, it still works.

If you have any trouble....check this out before you do anything...
