i ve read what the others have said and all i can say you are all very shortsighted

think!

Get on a bus and instead of buying a ticket dial a number and you paid for it!

Go to a vendor machine, dial the number that on it i.e 0800......
and the your coke drops!

Browse the internet and buy items simply by clicking on them!

in general the next big thing will be mobile phones that are intergated with your credit card or bank account and you use them to buy stuff.

also

for the hypohondriacks, phones that read your vital signs and calls you doctor / ambulance.

i m sorry but i cant reveal any more....

its too soon... for the public.... to know

The mobile phone will be everyone's must-have, essential item. And I don't mean the way they are now - I mean, they'll be fully integrated with the average computer. You'll be able to surf the Internet properly, rather than using it occasionally as a novelty. The mobile phone & the palm-top computer will be pushed together into one device that will be able to do pretty much anything. You'll have increased memory, better reception/signal, and watching live TV on phones will be far more commonplace.

10 years is a long time. Mobiles won't really exist as mobiles. They will be part of an integrated communication system. Voice, data, TV, computer, email will all be integrated into one system and it will be context sensitive.

eg, if you are watching TV a txt msg will appear on the screen, if you are driving your car, an email will be read out to you, because the network will know where you are and which device you have switch on.

HDTV will be normal, its the integration that'll be the big user friendly leap.

I think that the next big thing will be smart phones, or pocket pc phones. There's research being done on a foldable screen, made out of a fabric like material. Also, mobile data speeds are increasingly getting higher, with the advent of HSDPA you can get near broadband speed. Before we know it everyone will be carrying around full on computers.

in about 5-10 years we can expect 4g available on most mobile networks. Japan already has it. we are on 2g and 3g here in the uk at the moment, which allows to use gprs on 2g and make video calls and faster data transfer on 3g. On 4g you can expect the handset be alot smaller, some in japan are the size of a keyring. Their data tranfer will be basically as fast a normal PC, so I would expect you can do on a mobile then anything you can do on a pc, just as fast.

In 5-10 years time we will use mobile phones to tele-port us around..... cars will be the thing of the past!

Oh, wait a minute..... if i could just get a signal first that would help!

TV is already in the past, soon there will be video conversation, cameras are already there and it won't be in 5-10 years :) just wait year or two, you'll see it's already in use but not in USA or Canada

p.s. in 5-10 years you would be able to teleport yourself by using a cellphone :)

You said the next big thing right but there is more than one coming i.e. mobile tv with high resolution picture quality and turning of it into your personal media player.

As Scotty said to the computer in The Voyage Home. "Computer"
There's a lot of technology on the way. Imagine walking by a store in the mall and they send you a message with coupons to come in and try something. As Anastaciokosk put it "its too soon... for the public.... to know". But it's gonna be great.

i answered something like this a while ago and also talked about it with my brothers too.

i think as time goes, we'll start seeing phones with pentium M like processors running on them, 80GB internal memory goin' unto 160GB hard drive (CRAZY!!!!). we've got 10mpx cameras (samsung),how about 25mpx cameras with 50x optical/digital (whichever) zoom taken on a screen displaying 16M colours x4 (that's a display of 64M colours,262k TFT is d most popular now). and yeah,we've got handwriting recognition fones, how about one that improve my handwriting (don't u just love d way they write in those movie epics). and u'll love this,a phone having it's own small HD-DVD player, in a tini lil version. so u'll insert dis disc (tiny as well) into d "tray" at d side of d phone and watch ur stuff on a high quality display and last but not least,d phone's gonna have a projector of it's own, no more carrying some heavy equipment on ur shoulder (got some dirt on my shoulder, could u brush it off 4 me???),huh hun.
