I would say the Mr. Furley character! He wasn't as ignorant as the Barney Fife character seemed to be! I guess it was because the 1980's was a less puritanical era than the 1960's! Not quite as restrictive of the subject matter they presented!

Mr. Furley on Three's Company.
Not that Barney Fife wasn't good, but I didn't very much like the Andy Griffth Show.
I think he was funnier as Mr. Furley also.

Don Knotts was truly an artist. He was one of the finest actors to ever live & I had the pleasure to speak to him just before he died. This was very exciting to me as I'd grown up watching him on many movies & shows but very fondly grew up watching him as Barney "Fise"! I definitely have to vote for Barney & I surely do regret him having left the Andy show. He & Andy, & all the characters really, had amazing chemistry. It was a once in a lifetime cinematic magic!
