I just found out through the Australian news network that even though he was Australian, he was very loyal to America. After 911, Mr. Irwin took all of the shirts, toys and other things at Australia zoo and immediately had them shipped out to many government employees and professionals kids whose parents had been injured or were involved in 9/11 in some way. He attached a note telling them how proud he was of them and how much he appreciated every family and that his thoughts and gratitiude were with them.

Irwin literally gave away millions of dollars in his life to many charities; not only to wild life organizations. I can be pretty jaded at times but doesn't that make you feel good that there are some ordinary celebreties who are real and want no credit? He's one of the few. A truly kind and great man.

I'm from a military background. I love America but hate this dumb war. I hope that helps Laural.

In the past week or so there have been so many jokes and negative comments posted about Steve Irwin. I'm not having a go at anyone for posting them as this is a place for people of all opinions to share their views.
Having said that, it's nice to see someone posting something positive about him for a change. Thanks!

What can I say, he was a GREAT man in more aspects than most people realize......Im still upset as to his passing. it kinda hurts my heart but I just try to think at least he went in a way that was his passion, I dont honestly if he could have picked any other way to go, would have done it differently(well maybe less painfully) but he was doing what he loved & lived for(aside from his family of course) RIP STeve Irwim, the world misses you
