Not much now a days. But in idiology the left wing folks believe in bigger government and everything ran by government. Which means higher taxes and a lot of programs for the poor to servive on. The right wing believes in conservatism values. The smaller the government the better. Less taxes let the people run the country more then the government. Instead of walfare everyone that can should work and provide for themselves be responsible for their families. But now a days after an acumulation of good intentions but bad results the government is mostly running everything and not very well. But we are partly to blame because of our apithy in not voting. I could go on and on. But need to go to bed. If you want to read some good stuff on this subject there is a great news group called "the Patriot" just put that name in your search box and it will come up. Happy reading.

Not a great deal really. Imagine a horseshoe, the two ends that are furtherest apart are closer to each other than they are to the centre of the shoe. Left and right wing politics is just like this. Extreme left is said to be statist and everything is in the possession of the State. Extreme right is nationalist with everything in the hands of the national elite, usually the mercantile class. Both have pretentions to world order under their regime. The Nation of the right wing is also extremely statist, but the state is ruled by the few (eg Nazi Germany), the state allows business a relatively free hand and taxes the middle. Private property of the elite is paramount over the needs of the majority. On the extreme left the state is also ruled by a few but they are said to have the mandate of the people. The State owns everything including all land and means of production. In practice this means a greedy few control the public good for private ends but this runs contrary to left theory.

The biggest debate between left and right just now is the libertarian movement, also known as anarchy, where the freedom of the individual is paramount. Traditionally anarchy was the preserve of the extreme left socialist movement, but in western countries other than the US, the term liberal has a very different meaning, and Liberal (or individual freedom) parties are found on the extreme right. Leftist Anarchists argue that you cannot be right wing and anarchist because the right is the preserve of capitalist based government intervention designed to preserve the favourable conditions of the market at the expense of the Common Wealth, i.e. the wealth of the people. They say that the freedom of the right elites has been obtained by stealing the wealth from everyone else. Rightist Anarchists however dispute this and say that individual freedom is obtained from the market economy and cannot be obtained by state control. Both left and right are hoping for the ideal of individual freedom but differ in the philosophy and means by which to achieve it. However, all systems of government left or right base their power on violence and the threat of violence, meaning that no individual freedom is possible unless you agree totally with the governing hegemony. But I digress. Simple answer they are both the same and need each other to feed off. People like me are interested in individual sovereignty which is brought about by the abolition of partisan (left and right) movements (in the case of the US right vs further right) in favour of the third or middle way which is based on consensus agreements, which although harder to obtain, last longer and do not need violent force to hold them up. Interesting to note that the colour of the left is red and the colour of the right is blue, except in the US, where blue is Democrat (centre right) and red is Republican (further right), this indicates that in the beginning the Republicans were the Liberals and socialists and the Democrats were the Conservatives. Isn't it funny how things change, but it kind of proves my point about how close together the two poles really are.
I hope this helps, Google search for Prouhon & Chomsky for left opinion, Foucault for the centre and Hitler's Main Kampf for extreme right. Or take my word for it (don't do that, find out for yourself). Other useful search terms are anarchy, socialism, fascism, minarchy, nationalism & communism.

Traditionally, the left-wing have been those acting for change, and aiming for greater equality (socialists and liberals), while the right-wing have been those acting for the status quo, or a return to conditions as they were in the past, and expecting each person to prosper or lose out as individuals (conservatives and most libertarians).

This terminology "Leftists" and "Rightists" originated from French Parliament, where conservatives used to sit at a left hand side in the hall and liberals on the right.

But now it is getting confusing because when someone says "leftist" the mind goes all the way to soviets, while modern day liberals have nothing in common with the communists.

In my opinion Conservatives and Liberals are more appropriate terms. But probably conservatives donot like it.

Left-wing takes the country to left side and the right-wing takes it to the right side.
Result : Country is there only...only wings are spreading!
NB : We have been freed for almost 50 years. We have spent lots of Rs. for Primary education and basic health facilities. But, still we are lacking. Because they need funds for them only not to provide for these basic facilities.

Left-wing is described as Liberal, or Socialist, while right-wing is described as Conservative, or Imperialist.

This is a very broad brush, as there are many schisms within both views.

At times they are very hard to tell apart.
