With the Internet and more people watching the sky the government wouldn't have to tell the people they would soon find out, it would be very hard to keep a asteroid heading for Earth out of the news. And if I was going to die then I would like to know so I could have some fun before I go, or steal the space shuttle and make a home on Mars.

No. There would be panic all over... no use.
But your question showed me something: why would people panic if they were going to lose everything they have, everyone they love and die? I mean we all will in the moment of our death anyway, so what would be the big deal?
we should live like as if there was no tomorrow...
and hey, just in case if that big dister - tell everyone you love about how you feel about them - in a few hours it may be to late adn they will never know...

I'm not sure. It would cause chaos and mass distruction everyone would panic and try to find a safe place.
I think it might be better to let people continue with their everday life rather than thinking **** this is it im going to die today and wait for it to happen. Although on the other hand people would be able to mend relationships before they died i don't know what a tricky question!
nice one, i get the feeling your going to have a good debate on this.

I think we would all pretty much realise somthing was wrong when we looked up into space and saw the moon disappear behind a bloody great big asteroid, then woke in the morning to find out the sun was blotted out. Then we would all be smelling poo

I would rather have ,in your words, a peaceful ignorant death any day than be shitting myself for a week about a big rock dropping on my head!

this question is really deep. i mean, we have the right to know, but if we knew then all hell would break loose. riots and even wars could start and panic would take over. i believe that ignorance is bliss because it might be worse knowing that your end is at hand

No. Can you imagine the mayhem it would cause if people knew??? I'd rather not know personally. I'd want to live the last days of my life blissfully ignorant.

I'd say give me a couple of days to mend fences with the family and then I'd devote myself to some drinking and serious fornication(You don't have to worry about babies or dieseases anymore, baby!!!)

I was going to say 'be told' so that we could all say our goodbyes - but anyone who was in London over the bombings last year will know that the mobile networks will be max'd out and the internet networks will crash hence you could probably only say goodbye to your workmates!

Forewarned is forearmed...I would want to know..at least then you could decide to say goodbye to family and friends..or have a final party and go out with a bang !!Actually i believe if that were to happen it is our right to know..we all share the planet and if destruction is coming we have the right to know.
