To answer your question first, Yes, it did turn out better in the same direction as desired.
But, why wait for 24, the course seems clear even much earlier , since time tested concepts tell us that habits die hard after even 10 or 12 years of age, and by then, the likely potential could manifest, leaving just a little scope for situation to contribute.
All great men showed this potential at around this age, though they became famous only after reaching adulthood etc !

I sat in jail at 18 and made a decision to sell weed and surf, travel as many places as I could I also wanted to have a kid at 25 so that when I was 40 I could relate to the world that they would be living in. I did those things and then I realized that I had not set new goals Needless to say I went to jail Even though it started out great and went as planned you need to keep things going in a direction you set or the whole thing can fall apart.

I'm 24... I never really planned it. At elementary school I knew I was interested in history, so at high school I chose the History major. Then I was fed up with studying and so at college I chose English as my major since I knew it relatively well. After college I thought I'd die soon as a homeless or become a guy at the constructions, but now I'm at an office. I thought I'd be all alone and care only about myself, but currently I'm in a great relationship hoping to marry... I wonder where will I be in 10 years.

It depends on the country we living, for India about 80 % of the people are living below the annual family earnings of about 3000 US dollars, corruption and political in-stability increases un-employment and underemployment rate. About 70 % of graduates are depends on their family after graduation, even after marriage. city boys are improving fast, but for rural, states as rural only, people are poor, the medias are focussing urban areas, rural India is pitty.
