If your at work report it to whoevers in charge of IT, if your at home get a virus checker that has a spam killer thingie and that'll make the nasty spam go away.

There are ways to avoid spam. One is to ask your friends not to send you emails using cc (carbon copy) but bcc (blind carbon copy). That way everyone else doesn't see your email address. You probably have a filter. You can set up an email account with yahoo and filter your email. Or have any that is sent in bulk marked BULK. But be careful. Some bills are now sent out in bulk and I have had a bill filtered out by my ISP. Fortunately, that bill was paid automatically by direct debit. But if you late pay some bills you can get a heavy late payment charge. If you're using a anti-virus program that will also filter out SPAM. I was using one on trial - a very well known one. It filtered out important messages from friends and business emails. So you have to keep checking your spam folder. You can also filter out spam with Outlook Express. It will look for certain words in the subject or the entire email and filter out any that contain the word Viagra for instance. But the Spammers get around that by sending emails that contain no words just images and even use Vi@gra as a word. This is moronic, but they still do it. Finally, you can press ALT and ENTER in Outlook Express and get the IP from the header of the email and then do a whois on the IP. This is complicated. But you basically get the IP. Find out who their Internet service provider is and send an email to their abuse department. Spam is now illegal under EU law and most of North America under their Can Spam laws - so not as big a problem as it was. The link below is useful to superhighway. You will get a lot from Nigeria telling you some Princess or lawyer needs to get money out of the country. Reply telling them to phone your bank in Nigeria. Give them the number of the chief of police - you'll find it on that page!

You can't report spam to any authority as generally its not illegal unless it contains certain pornographic material. Usually the best you can do is check your e-mail software to see if it has a spam filter, you can usually mark e-mails as spam or enter addresses. Yahoo has such a feature for one. The mails are redirected to a spam folder where you can ignore them if you wish. You can also mark e-mails as not spam if they are accidentally placed in your spam folder.

To your email service provider. Some, like BT, have a spam button you can click.
