There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

It is the ultimate care one has about the other (emotionally, empathetically; and most important is practically).
The above from one side to the other; it could from either one or both direction.
When it is considered as existing in both at the same time, it is nothing but a strong bonding force between the two which helps each other in such a way that they can lead more lovely life with the society.
This is very important point to distinquish human from animal since such love between the boy and girl given them the platform to play the good game of love.

Love is a condition or phenomenon of emotional primacy, or absolute value. Love generally includes an emotion of intense attraction to either another person, a place, or thing; and may also include the aspect of caring for or finding identification with those objects, including self-love. Love can describe an intense feeling of affection, an emotion or an emotional state. In ordinary use, it usually refers to interpersonal love, an experience usually felt by a person for another person. Love is commonly considered impossible to define.
The concept of love, however, is subject to debate. Some deny the existence of love. Others call it a recently invented abstraction, sometimes dating the "invention" to courtly Europe during or after the middle ages (though this is contradicted by the sizable body of ancient love poetry). Others maintain that love really exists, is not an abstraction, but is indefinable; being a quantity which is spiritual, metaphysical, or philosophical in nature. Some psychologists maintain that love is the action of lending one's "boundary" or "self esteem" to another. And others attempt to define love and apply the definition to everyday life.

A burning passion undescribable by words. Emotion is so limited by mere language. No language has the words that can truly sum up the definition of love. It's like when you would die for that person. When you would live your life for that person... that's love in a sense... It's the greatest and most painful state you can ever be with. The passion actually hurts how much you want to be with that person.
forget lust, forget looks... Love is pure. It's sacrifice...

Love, it is different for everyone. But being able to be completely comfortable around that person. Be able to sit down in silence, and not have it be awkward. To be able to confide in the person, the mention of that person's name brings a smile to their face, it becomes literally like a drug. You can never have enough, all you want to do is be with that person. You want to spend every waking moment with them. A day away seems like an eternity, you go thru withdrawls. That person becomes your everything. ie. your best friend, your shopping buddy, movie buddy, etc. You do things you may not want to do to please the other. Like watch a football game or take pictures. Love is when the thought of another person sickens you. You can't imagine yourself being with anyone else.
