....I can say that I'm a liberal on this site, and a thousand people will blast me every which way but loose, thinking that they have even the tiniest idea of what I am like or what I am about....But people in other countries can say they are socialists, and no one even bats an eye....Why are we so touchy? So paranoid? So evil? So hateful?.......

I've experienced the same thing. I travel a bit for work and almost universally people in other countries are respectful and civil of others political views. They are always asking me whats up with Bush and how in the world did he get elected again. The republicans are a mystery to them. Me too. After much talking with some of my European friends and seeing it from their standpoint, I've come to the conclusion the republicans are generally a group of arrogant self interest seekers combined with ultra-nationalistic tendencies. This scares my friends. They asked me on numerous occasions if I'd like to go live there. It is appealing.

I feel the same way. I'm a republican. I, however, don't give a rat's azz about what other people think. I sleep very well at night. This forum also offers people the opportunity to be anonymous, myself included. You pigeon hole yourself when you associate with a certain group. Nothing like a round in Politics and Government to get you all worked up. P.S. Socialism is the only thing I really have a problem with.

More power to you. Be who you are and I will treat you with all the respect in the world. Not everyone is a party basher. I personally am not a liberal. I listen to the entire issue and make my decision based on the facts. On some issues I am more liberal and on others more conservative.

Because cons say that we blast them for everything when if you really look there tends to be alot more blasting done by neocons. Its because liberalism is the biggest threat to the cons dictatorship.

FEAR , of something we hold within our selves that logical thinking believes its not right for (our self -them). maybe someone sees danger in expression? (Premise) . Every individual has a consciousness, thoughts are seeds that grow think good and good will grow think negative and negative will grow. The world is a mirror of our own reflection.
