physically possible? sure. maybe you should look at your dads medical records or consult his physician for any proof to the contrary. otherwise assuming he was a normal healthy male...the woman being in her 40s at the time would be pre-menopausal...sure. If your aim is to disprove it maybe you could take it a step further and ask her what positions they used. If his colostomy bag would have been in the way, his trick knee, or bad back making this impossible push the issue even further huh?
Otherwise relax and be happy you have...extended family.

Yes, it is possible.
It isn't a question of age it is a question of has menopause hit the woman yet, and now days that can be medically sidestepped. An 80 grandmother, with such medical assistance, gave birth to a healthy child in Italy a few years ago.
According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menopause
"The average onset of menopause is 50.5 years, but some women enter menopause at a younger age, especially if they have suffered from cancer or another serious illness and undergone chemotherapy. Premature menopause (or premature ovarian failure) is defined as menopause occurring before the age of 40, and occurs in one percent of women."
The male is able to generate sperm from puberty to almost the day they die. Only women have an expiration date and that is because they only have so many eggs. It is a survival tactic of the human body and female biology. Since bearing a child can be dangerous and takes so much resources from the female body it is a wise tactic to prevent a woman from breeding in middle age.

Oh Yes....very possible. However, if in doubt, a DNA can confirm if your late father is actually the dad of the boy. Otherwise, it's very possible that man 65 or even more can still make a woman of 40 or even more, pregnant.....of course depending on their state of health.

Yes it is possible. First, both people have to be able to have children. Although fertility rates do go down in both sexes as they age. Men are able to father children at a later age than women are. After age 35, fertility rates in women goes down. It's possible for women to continue to conceive until menopause, although not very likely.
