I am afraid; it is harmful if one drinks them too often.
They are sure way of filling up the system with empty calories on the road to obesity.
The Ph value in GI tract gets turbulent. Leads to indigestion and gastritis. They are sources of contamination with bacteria, especially through the outer part of the bottle, what with they are handled by hundreds of hands and moved around in rat infested places, trucks etc..
Moreover, I have tried to clean my mouth with such drinks by gargling and swish/swirling in my mouth with the content and mark my word, doing so I used to get completely rid off any smell in mouth such as when I smoked in the past. I wonder they are the cheapest mouthwash one can find.

It ruins your teeth, can cause diabetes and makes you fat.
But that's about the same with most sodas. Best to avoid them altogether.

They actually use it to degrease engines! I use it to digest pizzas and burgers. There is a lot of sugar in there too and it's very bad for the teeth. To drink moderately.
