Is apathy or indifference contagious. Does it spread like a virus
eg tipping point. Do negative emotions spread????

I think you might be right in a way. When the media announced a while back that people were suffering from "charity fatigue", donations took a notable nose dive for most organisations in the weeks and months after it. Was this because it seemed OK to be "fatigued" if everyone else was? But as they say, ignorance is bliss, sometimes people need to be ignorant now and again.

yes like an epidemic. That's why we have the senseless mobs. Neighbours turning on each other, brothers against brothers etc.

when someone is apathic around you tend to be less enthusiastic too. just like you can't laugh when someone's crying around you.
