In the spring of 2005, I stayed in Seaside, OR and drove to Gardnerville, NV. I took US 101 south down the coastline. I write down travel distances and times when I travel. I'll look tomorrow and see if I can find my records. But I'm busy, so we'll see.

If you're trying to get to Lincoln CIty the fastest, avoid Portland at rush hour and then take I-5 south until you hit I-18 and follow it directly to the coast. If you have to go to Highway 101 it will be much longer as you would have to go over to Cathlamet, take the ferry across and then go to Astoria and head south that way. If you hit fog on the coast road, it slows down even more.
Be warned - I-18 can be very busy during the morning and evening commutes - and especially on Sunday afternoon coming back. It can literally add hours to the drive.
