I assume you are talking about botox.
What? Botox contains toxin. Some sort of food poisoning which paralyses nerve endings. It blocks the neuro transmissions to your muscles not to contract. That's why people who had botox injections cannot have facial expressions.
When? Botox was developed more than 30 years ago by a doctor. To be precised 1973 by Dr Alan B Scott. A drug company called Allergan purchased the rights from the doctor but was only approved by FDA for cosmetic treatment in 15 April 2002. It was approved in 1989 to treat eye misalignment.
What reasons? While mostly used for cosmetics purposes, Botox is also used for treating migraines, lower backaches and excessive persperation. Botox gained FDAs approval as it provides a relief for neck pain, involuntary facial muscle spasms, and eye misalignment.

Botox was developed by an ophthalmologist has been used since the late 70s. it comes from botulism and is purified to make botulism toxin and this gets to become a bacterial toxin. It grows on old food the mouldy bits and this can contain bacteria called Clostridium botulinum and this could cause botulism in the people who eat the food.

botox is short for the Botulism Toxin BO-TOX
which is a very fatal food born bacteria....
in very small amounts when injected underneath the skin it has a tightening effect...thus creating the illusion of youth

It's a poison, I think it is a food poisoning, it causes paralysis of the localised muscles, hence it's use to lessen lines and wrinkles.
