In the teaching of the Catholic Church, confirmation, one of the seven sacraments instituted by Christ for the conferral of sanctifying grace and the strengthening of the union between individual souls and God.
When we are confirmed we are:
united more firmly to Christ;
we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit within us
The ceremony is very beautiful and sacred, carried out by a bishop but there is no objects involved (like for example the host as communion bread).
