My daughter wants her very own flower garden with her name being Heather and her possible daughter being Jasmine Rose. All I can hope for is that it's either a boy or she drops the whole flowery name theme.
I guess Donya's not bad, but I've heard better... Good luck.
People are in such a quandary to give their child the ultimate unique name that sometimes they forget that it's the child who has to live with the names that were given to them.

When I hear the name Donya it conjures of an image of a 40 something woman with attitude. If that's similar to what you're looking for in a name then power to you. Some things to remember about choosing names: 1) Can it easily be turned into a teasing nickname? - if you can come up with one in 5 minutes think twice about choosing it - kids are creative and mean. 2) They're stuck with the name for life! So if it seems like they may outgrow it, or the novelty of the name may quickly wear off - again think twice. You are essentially molding your child's first impression via paper and e-mail.

I have an aunt named Donya. It is very unusual and I don't think I've ever heard it, except for her. I can think of lots of other names I like a lot better but it's your child. If you like that name, name your child that.

first, is it a name you made up or a real name? Imagine the fun when they do a geneology project, and find out their name has no real meaning.
Donya looks like it would be pronounced with a long O and that really would be confusing as it would sounds as a negitive when talking. Donya dare to do it. see what I mean?

Donya is not the best i guess.. if you want something to sound similar, Sonya sounds pretty feminine. if you want to start with "D', try Diana.. thats quite sophisticated.. hope you like these!

hey... personally i dont really like the name donya.. too close to donna. and also don. Her nickname would probably end up being don. and its not a really pretty one. But its up to you, trust your gut feeling.

its pretty and unusual but you should try what my husband did when we were going to have our daughter, he tried the many ways kids can morph the name and make fun of it - with donya I can imagine kids taunting her with 'are you done here' etc. I maybe sounding insane to you but kids can be so mean, we finally settled for Alyssa.
