Some months like July 2006 have 5 weekends, and some like August have 4 weekends, September has 4 weekends and a spare Saturday, October has a spare Sunday, counting September and October together, there are 9 weekends. Is it defined anywhere which month has 4 weekends and which has five? My question stems from a court ruling which states that my children are with me for the 1st and 3rd weekend of the month and if there is one, they are with me on the 5th weekend.

The only thing you can do is to use the callender. Weekends just keep on chaning it also depends on which day of the week the month started. If it starts on a Friday you may have more weekends.

it depends entirely upon which day the first of January falls. If ther is a 5th weekend you get to see your children two weekends running. Buy a perpetual calendar and work it out for yourself maybe it is not all bad news.

Does it not all depend on what day of the week is the 1st of the month? And would this not mean it would differ from year to year?

Surely it just depends on the calendar? Months start and finish on different days, which change every year. I didn't think anyone had actually decided when they would fall.
