i buy books for silly reasons, just on impulse cover, colour, picture, style and authors name. have read some completely shocking rubbish but have turned up a few gems.
then i joined the library because it was cheaper.

reading your addition I suspect you mean to ask for the reason I last bought a book. Well, I never judge a book by it's cover, but usually the information on the backside along with the title usually gives me enough info to try it out or not. If I like it, I usually get all the sequels too.
That's probably why I've got 15 books by David & Leigh Eddings, 7 books and counting by Stephen Donaldson (about Thomas Covenant), 4 books by J.R.R. Tolkien, 4 books and counting by George R.R. Martin, 10 books by... oh well, you get my drift...
