Every day I see more writing on the wall that could well lead to a WWIII eventually. "The West" vs. Islam. This has gone beyond the United States vs Terrorism. Today Islamic fundamentalism leaders are lashing out against the Pope and Christianity, saying that they will not give up until Islam rules the world. Pathetic. It seems to be consistently escalating. Does anyone see the *possible* beginning of another World War here, and what in the world can be done to stop this madness.

Yeah it's kind of ironic that after saying that Islamic people are violent in their beliefs they take it as an insult and then go kill a nun in Africa and threaten the pope's life and declare war openly on the west and all those who don't believe as they do. I guess some of you answering here are pretty young and don't know world history very well. If the US wanted to rule the world they could have done it after ww2 instead they helped re-build the countries that attacked us! There is a difference in Islamic fundamentalist fascist's wanting to rule the world and the US wanting to spread freedom for nations and the individual. BIG DIFFERENCE kids. As far as ending the war not unless the terrorists have a change of heart, and maybe that can happen if their young people can have a choice between strapping a bomb on their backs or going to the new Bagdad starbucks and scope out the new hottie they just hired. I think people when given a choice will someday pick life over BOOM! But maybe not all we can do is try.

How many fundamentalist islamists are there? Not many. Not enough to be a threat on a global scale, so not enough for a world war. It would be coalitions vs. individual states if anything, like in the first Iraqi war, Afganistan, and probably the second Iraqi war. The troubles in the Balkans were also dealt with fairly swiftly and without any alliances on the parts of the islamists. Given the poverty most of these problematic nations exist in, they have no chance against a determined west, much less even than Japan did in WW2 against the US.
If the states are dealt with, as I assume they will be soon, what threat remains? Individual cells of a terrorist organization that might slip through the cracks aren't capable of maintaining facilities for the manufacture of dangerous-enough weapons to seriously threaten our livelihoods. They can't afford nuclear weapons, and even if they could, it's just as likely the mob could. Indeed, islamic terrorists would become part of the existing criminal element, perhaps only slightly more dangerous than crime is already.
There is no chance for islamists should they try to start a world war, or any war really. They'll be simply obliterated. Even France wouldn't tolerate someone attacking them.
No, the only possible world war I see would be fought in the Middle East but it would be between the great powers: Europe, Russia, India, China, and the USA, in some combination. The escalation by fundamentalists is because they think that if they cause enough chaos, they might be able to sieze power from it when the rest of us fight over the middle east, just like they did during the Cold War.

No, fundamentally Islam is a Semitic based religion and as such, has much in common with the Jewish religion. However, with that said, Islam tends to be more contradictory to Judaism, because of the basis principles of each religion. The Jewish religion tends to be very ethnocentric, arrogant, and hateful to other religions and races, which in essence is very ironic. Thus, I have found that through doing research I have been able to adequately formulate my own personal opinions, and I advise you do some reading of Islamic literature if you want to understand it. Here on this website you will generally find two kinds of people, the extremist Jews who claim everyone else is anti semitic, and those stupid ignorant skinhead types that want to claim the Nazi movement. Again, think for yourself, not what the American-Jewish propaganda wants you to think.

There will be no world wars for religious reasons, wars are always fought for political reasons, but the problem of wars is this: You have to cover real causes of war (especially these days with all the technological revolution) and you have to de-humanize the enemy, and it would be nice to feed your troops with hatred towards the enemy. so how this be done?
Most Muslims live in Third World countries. does they have the technology or the economy or the will to do fight WWIII? com'on...
Whatever the answer is, the war mongers try to make the war ethical, make it legal, make it look like self defense. and those war mongers are from the more powerful side!

It's not a war against Islam and never will be, it's a war against fundamentalist ideologies. Just like any war before it or after it.
And the Dem's nor the Rep's compare to religious zealots, no matter how corrupt they are or appear to be.

if you adjust your thinking about the definition of "war", then it can certainly be argued that we are engaged in a "world war" already.
islamofascism has openly and brazenly declared "war" on any and all "western" interests, "western" being defined as anything not islam.
the only answer to this madness is the annhiliation of all islamic-backed terrorist groups and the decimation of the current global muslim leadership.
they respect nothing less. there is no negotiation to be had here.

There won't be another world war, Iran has nuclear power capability. someone is going to do a pre-emptive strike, and suddenly all the Muslims will be bending over backwards to not get nuked as well. i'm thinking that within 2 years, there will be a nuke pointed at Israel, and they will have to take Iran out. as longas america and rusia keep out of it things will work out really nicely.
