I have a 6 week old boy and i can't seem to get all of the crade cap off his head. Do you know anything that works? I looked @ wal-mart for a kit that i heard about but couldn't find it.

I have a 4 month old and have JUST managed to clear the cradle cap after 4 weeks. Every night I would rub a little extra virgin olive oil into the area (far better to use natural unrefined oils) and gently brush with a soft bristled baby brush in little circles. Next morning I'd repeat the brushing and then wash his hair using a cradle cap shampoo (detinox - uk - don't know if this is available elsewhere). This has worked a treat. It's just a case of perservering. Luckily cradle cap doesn't bother the baby - so don't let it bother you too much. Good luck.

Just put baby oil on his head for about an hour before you give him his bath. Then just wash it out and some of it should flake off. You really dont need to do anything about it because it will clear up on its own but the oil will help break it up.

I would save your money on the kit though. It has oil, a comb, shampoo and lotion in it and I'm sure you have all of these already!

good luck

Ok, this is what you do..put some baby oil in his hair/head...don't soak it. use a baby comb and gently rub it out. it won't hurt him. you could use your fingernail also to gently scrap it off too. you can tell how much pressure you are using with your fingers though. after you do this...wash the oil out and use lotion to put on him until the next day. then repeat every day, just in different spots or everywhere if you choose and he doesn' t protest too much. Just make sure you wash his head everyday. Cradle Cap tend to grow...so watch it close ...you don't want it to get in his eyes. washing his head everyday will keep it from drying out..that is how it keep going.. Good luck..keep with it and it will go away.

My son is 8 months and still has mild cradle cap. It doesn't hurt the baby, it just looks funny. I have heard that you're supposed to put baby oil on the scalp and use a baby comb to try to comb it out. To me that sounds painful, so I just let it be.

We had a problem with that & we were using Johnson's head-to-toe baby wash. We started washing his head with regular old Johnson's Baby Shampoo, no more tears, and it cleared it up. Didn't have to spend the $9 on the stuff made especially for cradle cap. Our son's was so bad that he had a rash on his eyelids.
