A hysterectomy is removal of the uterus.
There should still be sexual desire after having a hysterectomy because the uterus is not responsible for sexual desire.

Women who have had a hysterectomy, in which one or both ovaries are removed, can have lowered sexual desire and decreased pleasure and orgasm. If you have problems with sexual desire or functioning, talk to your doctor
hysterectomy is an operation to remove a woman's uterus (womb). The uterus is where a baby grows when a woman is pregnant. In some cases, the ovaries and fallopian tubes also are removed. These organs are located in a woman’s lower abdomen (see image below). The cervix is the lower end of the uterus. The ovaries are organs that produce eggs and hormones. The fallopian tubes carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus.

a simple hysterectomy removes the womb, which really doesnt change things a lot, but ask for a bladder tack at the same time or you will end up dribbling urine the rest of your life, if they take your ovaries too, then you wont have periods anymore and your estrogen will not be produced, i reccomend the patch, better on your stomach than pills, though if you are overweight you may not need more estrogen for ten years. you will have hot flashes and all the signs of menopause if they take your ovaries, but the estrogen helps a lot, and i am even more passionate now than i was before. though not everyone feels the same.

i had my hysterectomy 8 weeks ago. i had the uterus and cervix removed, although at times the doc will take the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. all thats left is the playground. if the ovaries are taken the sexual desire can go down or disappear altogether. i still have my ovaries and my sex drive is in high gear! the orgasms are way more intense than they were before! i'm glad i had mine done.
