One film I liked was Jologs which I thought it presented a pretty accurate picture of Filipino youth. The story revolvs around the lives of the "next-in-line" generation and how each person is connected to one another in some way. I think the screenplay was taken from a contest or something. As for values, well, there are a lot of issues tackled like religion, pre-marital sex, etc. It's the only Filipino film that I have on dvd.

crying ladies--very simple, funny, and shows the life of ordinary filipinos in ordinary situations in an artful way. i love the place where it was filmed as well (binondo).
got to believe--watched this about ten times or more not because i love the claudine barretto-rico yan loveteam but it was more like i missed the philippines at the time (stayed in the us for about 6 months)
those cheesy and corny 80's films--even at the height of fighting, the actors still manage to do some silly stunts (runaway truck hitting a fruit cart, a henchman continuing to box homself even if the bida has let go of him, the works). and you'd be sure there's gonna be a musical and dance number at the beginning or at the end of the movie. basically this just brings back memories of when i was a kid and when i see them now on tv, i'm like, "i enjoyed this?!" and yeah, i still do. ;-)

Milan is probably one of the most common. I think it teaches that you can go overseas but you will miss your family and some of the same problems (romantic) will still exist.
Another would be "The Brother's M" or the M brothers. That is the one where the twin boys are born in Baguio but a car accident causes one of the brother to get lost in a produce truck headed for Manila. Of course he is adopted and raised by the people at the market who found him. Eventually his original family finds him and he saves his brother's life, almost gets killed by the thugs but surives.
The message as in most Pinoy movies is that your most valuable asset is your family, and you should never give up on them because they will never give up on you.
These are socially relevant because Pinoy culture revolves around the family.

crying ladies - simple, drives the point across, very funny and poignant at the same time, for me one of the best filipino movies ever made. it totally deviates from the usual filipino story lines... "me against the world" type... or also the more comedic ones, with matching song and dance performances to boot.

But i like most true to life stories making by movie, there are much more lesson, values and different experience's by other people who sacrifice much for their love one's.
Like story's of sarah balabagan & flor and so much more..........

"'til there was you" is a nice movie so is "jologs". the first one is romance comedy and the latter is like a teen flick. both have enough lessons to be worth watching.

those old corny comedies.. it's pathetic but i still laugh at the silly things they do and the endings are all predictable, with the cops arriving late.. hahaha
