Ok I am moving my songs from my cds to my ipod but idon't want my all of those songs on my comp hard drive. It's going to take up too much space.Does itunes store my songs on the internet I am confused at how this process works.I'm not sure how itunes actually works.

all your music will be stored on your computer hard drive so you can listen to them via a player of your choice.
An other way to do it is to invest in an external hard drive and transfer them to that , you can also use it as a back up for the data and pics on your computer. External hard drives cost about $100. 00

When you initially convert your cds to mp3/4s through iTunes, they will go onto your hard drive. Find your library of music on your hard drive. Just do a search for music and they should be easy to find. Load them onto your iPod. Once they are loaded onto your iPod, delete the files from the library on your hard drive. Initially you will use hard drive space but once you delete them they will be off the hard drive and all that space will be free again.

Yes, it will take up space. If you delete the songs, the ipod software might try to remove them from the ipod when you update it.

sure, determine you open Itunes first and alter his options to "no longer Sync" on connect. Then connect your Ipod and drag the songs you decide directly to the Ipod icon in Itunes no longer the icon on the computer. when you eject your Ipod you could replace his prefs back to Sync.
