For a few years I have tried asking at restuarants but they want tell me. Who is Jack? ! What is his (the actor's) real name? What does he look like under that big white goof ball of a head? How much does Jack's head weigh and what size / measurements of the talking walking Jack's head? It's trivia I really want to know! And why is the staff so secretative about Jack?!

Hey Girl,

Jack in the Box Corporate office is here in San Diego. They have an office for "Jack", a reserved parking space for "Jack", and pictures all around the corporate office of Jack doing "Things" - (Jack in the Boardroom, Jack with the Football Team, Jack teaching how to flip burgers.)

My friends that work at corporate say that all of the TV ads are done from an advertising firm in New York. All of the print ads and picture ads are done at a firm in Los Angeles, so the chance that the same guy that appears in the TV spots and the guy that is in the pix at your local restaurant being one in the same are Nil at best. The Voice over guy is probably the only constant.

My friends couldn't tell me how much the head weighs, what its made out of or even how big it is. (They did tell me there are "Several" in New York as well as Los Angeles).

The reason the staff is so secretive - "Keeps people asking!"

Makes sense to me!

Hope this helps,

James in San Diego

Finally, after much searching and clicking, we stumbled on this article from the trade magazine Ad Week. Appropriately enough, it lists an actor named "Jack Tate" as the man who played Jack in a commercial that also starred such A-listers as Gary Coleman and William Hung. We're not sure if Mr. Tate was the man in the mask, the voiceover actor, or both. But we do know he's earned the right to park in Mr. Box's space should he ever stop by the office.

p.s. -- a reader of Ask Yahoo! recently wrote in and suggested "Jack" is played by a man named Dick Sittig. According to this article, Sittig hasn't confirmed the allegation. The mystery continues...
