Well because I think we do talk alot. We have in general a higher level of communication skills and are generally more emotional. Put the 2 together and I think we are talkers. By the way, unless the "talker" is a boring or something, dialogue = entertainment. I think talking is a good thing as long as one can listen as well and create a balance in conversation. And it goes without saying there ARE times for silence and times when you want to just tell someone to "please shut up now" (enough already) haha

Because it is a stereotype, so people will often attribute to talking as being a lot when it is a woman, and conveniently forget when men are talking just as much. People in society tend to focus on what they are told to focus on, and block out what they are told to block out. This is very true for gender expectations.
men and women aren't the only genders though, and gender changes over time and across cultures. There is no universal experience of masculinity or femininity. There is no universal experience of gender.

Just like they put a pot of milk on stove and forget about it, and the milk boils over most of the times, so also, they switch on their talk and it goes on incessantly, their attention meanwhile wanders at hundreds of things around.
Just spend time in a focused manner to observe such talk, you will not be able to draw any meaningful summary out of such talk. It is a capability to be really appreciated ! No problem with leisure !

You know, there are alot of talkers. I am not the big talker in my relationship with my husband. He gets so excited about guns, motorcycles, and muscle cars....and he will talk so much about them that I almost nod off!
But, my mother-in-law is the same way about talking for hours, so maybe that is where he gets it from!
