I say Real black women because I mean black women that aren't mixed with something and look like they just came off of the boat from Africa; big lips, flat noses, etc. Americanized black women are ones that wear weaves, piecies, and feel overwhelmed in a country that doesn't consider them to be beautiful.
Everytime I turn on the television I see white people. When I don't I see mixed women. They are never fully black, they are either light-skinned or have mixed features. Even if you do find a real black women they aren't considered to be a sex symbol. The Cosby Show and Fresh Prince had children that were mixed playing the role of a daughter to parents that couldn't be there real parents.
Almost every famous movie star considered to be beautiful is mixed with something. People always hit on me because I look mixed, and I always see the dark skinned girls standing in the shadows. Not only that but they get treated differently. Why do people deny it? Shame? Why can't things change?

I really wish some of you black skinned/featured girls could get past your bitterness and face the truth. You're not helping anyone by being in denial. Things are the way they are and they won't change until you do something about it. I'm not saying don't love yourself, but you certainly aren't showing that you love yourself by wearing weaves, wigs, and straightening your hair.
Well I guess it is only human to want to be what everyone else likes... It sucks though..

I agree. I'm also a light-skinned Black woman, and I know exactly what you're talking about. It's sad, but for the most part, society equates beauty with light skin (with the exception of models like Alec Wek coming onto the fashion scene). It seems that a lot of people have mentally fallen victim to the media's elite standard of beauty: long, straight hair, light eyes, fair complexion, thin build, etc. Sadly, it seems that the lighter her complexion, the prettier a woman is considered to be, not only in this country, but all over the world. But those who have a more well-rounded opinion of beauty consider that kind of thinking ridiculous and realize that beautiful women come in all colors, shapes and sizes.

You should ask yourself this question--Do you consider Real Black women to be ugly? May I ask you what do you mean by real. If you can see it, feel it then it must be real. I sense that what you mean is, a person that is not mixed with another race.
I will emphatically say to you, NO. I am black. (brown skin) my grand father was from Surinam(white), my great grand mother (white) from Panama. White people call all of us Black even if we sometimes have a little tinge of black in us but look Real white. All the unwanted races gets dumped in our race. ..Don't get hung up on the facial looks.. look at the Chinese, Indians(red, black and yellow, Europeans--I believe it has to do with that part of the world they are from -- look at the elephant, giraffe snake, etc etc you get the picture ..Look at pictues of people from mountaineous regions.. check you history and geography .
Even the ones that come of the boats (and all of the races not indigenous to Canada came of the boat) might not be all black.. Shock! Women from Africa wear weaves--stereotypying ain't good. Some Americanize women have not claim who they are and where they are (as a birth place), meaning they have never lived in Africa, are not from Africa, only look like they are from there--but are Amerians. Period. That is why they feel overwhelmed in a culture(much like what Darwin claimed in his evolutionary theory "survival of the fittest") that does not want to give them an opportunity. if they (white americans) had the chance to do what Hitler did to the Jews they'll do it. They do not want to share this world with anyone else that would make them feel inferior.
They is a culture in the advertising world that do not target their goods and services to blacks or any other race. If we question and make a fuss things get change. Like i said and this happens in the hollywood world..the ratings matters and their target is not to offend the white population. Long ago they use to be a word referring to such single appearance of a black person or Asian as a "token". They are not featured in front line positions.(lead roles)
Now the onus is on people like yourself to fight for change. You should ask yourself if it really maters? If it does, then you should do something about it, just don't sweep it under the rug. The fear is that people are afraid when "you" (in general) have treated people so badly there is always the Fear of what they have done to someone else, coming back to them.. Sorry but i hope that you do not get use as "play thing" ,, be careful. The others get treated differently because of many things, example aggression, boldness, confidence, fear, their appearance. Now , the portrayal of them in music videos is very, very negative. and that only looks good for awhile...
Have fun with this...
We are beautiful and we are all beautiful as God's creatures and this matters the most. Thank you for posing your questions..
peace and love

definitely cannot be generalized bec beauty is in the eye of the beholder. on any kind of race or mixed races, there would always be the uglies and the beauties. and this depends largely on the eye of the beholder.
just like when i saw a child of mixed race and i found her soo cute and lovable, with those curled up eye lashes and all; but my mom and bro were surprised and thought the kid looks like a monkey. so again.. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But its is ALWAYS how a person comes across that makes him or her beautiful. Exposure, outfits that suits their personalities, neatness, etc.. its all important in making a person beautiful.
Ever wonder why there are women who are not exactly beautiful, but bec they know how to carry themselves are swoon by men all over? there u got the answer....

I've asked myself that sometimes, and the answer is yes. Sometimes Balck is clearly beautiful by whomever is doing the beholding:
Alfre Wood
Grace Jones
Alek Wek (ppl are coming around)
Pat Evans
Eartha Kit
Josephine Baker
I suggest the book "Black Beauty" by Ken Agrogunde. Its very informative of past and pleasant Balck beauties and goes to partially explain your question of why it is that Balck beauty isn't as celebrated as White beauty...calm yourself, the Human Race is beautiful.
Don't wait for popular culture to acknowledge it.
Black beauty has been celebrated, but not as much by wider society as White beauty has. Such is the unfortunate world we live in.

You know, I never focused on their blackness as to why they weren't beautiful, to my eyes. I never thought of them as beautiful because of the roughness of their features. That's also why I don't think people like Kathy Bates, Roseanne Barr, Cate Blanchett, and Gwynneth Paltrow are beautiful, either.

B*tch get over yourself. At first I thought you were just someone obsessed or ashamed of your African heritage, but now I can see directly through you. Our society does say that white features are the best features, if you actually buy that load of crap then maybe you deserve to be sucked into that false belief of racial superiority. Remember, outward appearances are just a mirage to the soul.
