wht type of lap top u got first i have a acer aspire.
if i look at the top buttons. eg f1 f2 f3 f4 f5 and so on.
At the bottom i have akey called fn this is a blue key and also i have other blue keys across the keyboard that this key controls.
if i press the fn key and f7 this will disable the touchpad..

My Computer/Control Panel/Mouse Settings
From here, you can either edit touchpad options, or disable it entirely, as well as edit options for other mouse devices.

There should be a button right over the pad that turns it off
