The sperm travel up into both tubes...where the egg is is where it gets fertilized. Oh, and the only stupid question is the question not asked!

If you've ever seen sperm under a microscope, it's obvious that they DON'T know where they're going. They swim frantically in all directions ... until they come into contact with the ovum. One penetrates the ovum/s, and once the ovum is penetrated, a hard outer-shell is formed ... so no other sperm can enter the ovum. The cells in the newly formed embryo quickly begin to multiply, as the embryo travels down the tube and into the uterus, then implants itself in the uterine lining.

The sperm doesn't have to know. There are something like 200,000 to 300,000 sperm in each ejaculate and only one needs to fertilize the egg. The ones that take the wrong path simply die and get absorbed by the woman's body.

The sperm lives for 3-4 days and the egg lives about 24 hours. You ovulate 11-24 days after the 1st day of your cycle. Your most fertile times are 1-2 days before ovulation and 24 hour after. I am nine months pregnant and I concieved 11 days after my cycle. Try these times and google ovulation for more info and the sperm will find the egg.

I believe the egg travels to the uterus and is fertilize there by the sperm. The sperm doesn't travel to the fallopian tube, or else it might fertilize in the tube and may cause an ectopic pregnancy.

i guess they split up, lol. half one way, half the other. 50% odds aren't too bad, better than our chances of ever hitting the lotto, lol.
