Well the only way to repay them is to save their life but if that opportunity does not present itself you can thank them and offer to help them in any way that you can.

Thank them and write a letter to the editor about how great they are... some communities have annual life saving awards for citizen's who go to heroic measures to save others. This might apply. Worth looking into. Call your local police department or city hall.

Give them all your money. LOL. Just kidding! But I guess you can do a favor in return. Don't feel to indebted to them though. It should have been out of the goodness of their heart and not for a reward.

maybe write your feelings down on paper until you feel you get everything down that you want to say to that person. taht way you can change something that doesnt sound right.
