I'm looking for an intelligent honest observation here. No one that easily gets offended or that will deny that this is true. I'm not an idiot and have gone to college and studied on the subject of race and culture. I am looking for a multitude of explanations on why black men tend to sway towards black women that don't have the classic black features?

I don't want to hear that, "Well I don't" I don't care what you don't do, I want to hear why those that do do it. We all know it is true in many cases. Why does Beyonce, Ashanti, Halle, Naiomi, Cierra, and a ton of other stars consider pretty? Did you know they are all mixed in some sort of way? Why do black men always consider Halle as their idea girlfriend? Why does no one like real African looking women like Whoopi Goldberg or Fantasia (Idol)?

I understand it is frustrating for darker skinned black women, and our how society just doesn't like the classic 'black' female.

the men who prefer light, black women are the types of men who are trying to get as close as they can to white...w/o going white. as a scholor you should know the answer to this question. the minds of americans is a learned process. the reason why you don't embrace being black, or relate to what most blacks like...is a learned process. the reason why you think "being black sucks" and that your "nappy hair" sucks...is a learned process. and finally, the fact that men prefer light women, is a learned process. if the black guys you see at the mall were living 50-100 years ago, they may have been publicly hanged for drooling at a white woman. what's so criminal about drooling at a white woman? white women must be better. white women must be more special. and after all...don't we all want something we can't have?

sweetie, everything is a learned process. even the fact that you do not respect your culture, history and heritage...it was learned. when you are made to feel inferior for 100s and 100s of years, the natural tendency is to think that the OPPOSITE of you, IS BETTER. passed on from generation, to generation, to generation...

keep studying. you will get it eventually! good luck

Halle Berry is extremely beautiful-even without makeup. Everyone wants her.

But all the other famous women are just made up. Beyonce has very "classic black female" features. The makeup she puts on changes it. Whoopi Goldberg doesn't allow people to transform her into something else.
Madonna is hideous without makeup.

Our society loves females with hair did and makeup on and stylish clothes. That's all it takes. Each person just needs to find what works for them...if that's a priority in your life.

Well Whoopie and Fantasia are bad examples of black women, they are both quite unattractive to almost everyone. I'm not being judgemental really. Part of the allure of women to men is certainly that they appear to be fragile and therefore need protection. Fantasia seems, and I may be wrong, to be a giant. That would feel like sleeping with a man. Truly whatever hourglass shape she may have would be undistinguishable with someone you could not wrap your arms all the way around. So there's the first part.

To some extent opposites attract, so that plays a role.

Nature loves androgeny, by which I mean things that have flexible qualities -- such as qualities of both white and black, a balance. Nature attempts to reconcile seperated things. That plays a role.

I think, and I could be wrong but I highly doubt it, that the curves of a woman's body are more visible in the light off white skin. From what I've seen of a darker-skinned woman's body, the skin tone doesn't accentuate the appearance and the subtleties of human form.

Black women are in control. African-American culture is matriarchal because black women have had to step up to the plate to raise families. But black men do not necessarily want to be in a relationship with a domineering woman, even if that is the way the culture has evolved.

White women's physical features are more delicate. That again has to do with the smaller and more fragile appearace that needs to be protected.

And finally, white women are the forbidden fruit. They are harder to get and taboo for black men according to the history of interracial relations in America. That can be a very compelling draw.

White women tend to be more successful for many reasons. Everyone wants to be with someone who is successful.

Those are just the reasons off the top of my head. Not trying to express any bias here. I certainly would be interested in experimenting with the right black woman. Not a lot of them where I live.

When I saw your question, I called one of my friends to ask this question of him. He is a black man who only dates white women. He said that the reason he only dates white women is that white women are nicer. He said that he didn't like how black women had an "attitude problem," as he put it.

As for my own observation, I think it comes down to rarity. Most men seem to want the most rare thing, the features that don't happen as often as regular features. That's why emaciated white women with full lips, Asian women with large breasts and rounder eyes, and light-skinned black women with Anglo-Saxon features are so attractive. But then again, that's just my observation.

You don't have to worry about us we during just fine. You seemed to have your mind made up so why bother to ask people opinion if your not going to believe.

Whoopoi and Fantasia are very, very ugly. Not because of their skin color, but because their faces are really ugly. That is why no one likes them that way.

they would actually prefer a white woman...but any white woman they would be with, would not be with them...black guys dont want to be with trailer trash either...lighter skin is more attractive...its a proven fact....a muddy or really dark skin color does not look healthy...and a lot of it is society...look at how a lot of the 'african' looking black people act....they are usually the more uneducated, drug dealers and prostitutes... underbites, gapes in their teeth...out of proprtion noses...it wouldnt be attractive on any race
