Guyz, dont get me wrong I totally respect their contribution to science, but what if we are equally off the mark as they were.

you're a little off the mark. The better Greeks, long before Christ, knew that the Earth was round. Of course in the Middle-Ages some idiots felt a bit uncomfortable with the idea, but still.

Then you've got Columbus, who discovered America in 1492, and decided to try the trip because he knew the Earth was round, so was hoping to find a shortcut to the Indies.

So the flat Earth thing is something that is several hundred years old, and more like a couple millenia old.

What may scientists say in a couple millenia? That we didn't understand the shape of the Universe? That we didn't understand gravity especially in black holes?

There will be amazing things no doubt and all of that is built through time on the foundation laid by those guys (and others before them) who thought the earth was flat. I am sure that scientist 100 years from now will respect that just as we do now.

Considering that "respected scientists" have known the earth is spherical for some 2500 years or so, I think you'll need to revise your musings by 2400 years...

The point of science is that it is an ever-increasing realm of knowledge on which we can rely. We don't mock those who believed the earth was flat, sperm contained a homonculus, or flies spontaneously generated - they were operating on the best knowledge they had at the time. Then they conducted inquiries and experiments to learn more.

We mock those who STILL believe the earth is flat despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Yes it is easy to laugh at the 'World is flat' theory, just as future scientists will laugh at the evolution theory.

Thanks for mapping the genome and giving us the greatest project in mankinds history.
Those scientists above all else were religious people who couldn't challenge the status quo. Now it is a matter of course to try to challenge it.

They also had limited resources and limited technology when they made that conclusion.

What are you saying? No, they're not going to look back 100 years from now and say evolution was a crock of ****, if that's what you're getting toward.

Yes, but the BIBLE always knew and still gives vital answers for OUR day and on into the future.

(Isaiah 40:22) . . .There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth, . . .
