I think it has to do with gender roles. People see gay men as effeminate and unmasculine, trying to be like women. However, you do not have to be "butch" or masculine to be a lesbian. People tend to think that most lesbians are still bona fide women, and not trying to subvert their "intended" role.

Probably partly nature I guess. it seems to turn far more men on to see two women together than it does the other way around. It's not right, and it's not fair. I think consiously society should think about this more, especially if you are someone that finds yourself accepting of lesbians, but not gay men. I'm not saying lesbians in general have it EASY by any means....but easier....in some respect, yes. Just a little bit...not enough to matter really, but yes.

What I would say to this is: Society is more accepting of personal contact e.g. hand holding, hugging, maybe even kissing, between women than between men. However in terms of general acceptance I would actually say it is men who have more support. Alot of the gay press, bars and general support more heavily leans towards men. It is improving, but I genuinely believe women get a rougher ride of it. I think the best example of this is a male fantasy of 2 women making out, It is great and acceptable when it is a fantasy e.g on film, photo or behind a screen. However when it becomes real and the male realises they are not invited then they become threatened and the bigotry is more likely to come to the fore.

Because our culture values masculinity. Masculinity'es core vulnerability is to be immasculated. Some men feel immasculated by homosexuality, and they project their feelings onto others sometimes in the form of hate, fear, agression, discrimination.
Meanwhile, masculinity is less vulnerable to women gender being feminine. Within heteronormative structure, gender roles are key and if women fulfil their gender roles, lesbian sex could still be feminine. Also, the sexual objectification of women is one performance imperative for the the validation of hegemonic masculinity. Positionality is key to masculinity, a position above that of femininity, and alternate masculinities. So long as lesbian sex can be conceptualized as for a hegemonically masculine man, whether real or perceived, it is not a threat.
I hope this has shed a little light on just a few of the reasons for this double standard.
Also, many women find lesbians more threatening than gay men. One reason is because like men, women feel that their gender roles are being challanged when they project their own gender roles onto those who might be deviating from their expectations of women-gendered people.

I have noticed that lesbians are less likely to be approached by put-downs or slurs in the USA than gay men. Especially during the growing up years. People probably talk behind their backs as much though. A lot of it is that straight men are afraid of gays but less intimidated by women. Why is every hetero male fantasizing about two women making love?? Whatever!! There are many double standards.

What i do no longer comprehend is how a guy will mistake a penis for a vagina? i could think of despite if i replaced into blasted, i could recognize yet another penis. inspite of each and every thing, i will nevertheless be able to hold my own mutually as urinating. the only component i will think of is that if the female-boy stated "Oh, how approximately I bend over and you do me interior the butt." properly, there's a great pink alert impressive there. purely some women folk take part in that and that i believe very few could abruptly recommend that in the time of a widespread-time casual come across. Oh properly, I purely had to state the above...for as crude because it extremely is. i could could desire to declare it may be some kind of sexual attack by deception. Is there even this kind of component?

It seems that way because it is .Alot of men fantasize about two women getting it on , or want two women at once ...Men that are sexually frustrated, or repress their female side ,make themselves feel more secure by lashing out at gay men to re-enforce their (uncertainty) strength and prowess of their sexuality .You may find that your typical y chromo throw back , racist nihilist ,gets his kicks hating gays ,when you might find gay porn on his computer .It is ridiculous to me that this is happening . My girlfriend wants me to have a... ahem... tryst with another woman , and I am admittedly nervious , because it could be confusing at first ...I guess I might be the luckiest man on earth according to some. But this isnt Penthhouse Forum , I better shut up ...Good luck on an answer .

With men you get what is called the "ick" factor by society, yet two women have become more and more glorified through the pornography and other images. It is not the same vision in mainstream America or around the world.

This is super easy.
Penetrating during sex is considered masculine while being penetrated is considered feminine.
Homosexual men allow other men's sex organs to penetrate them, thus playing a tradtional feminine role.
Homosexual women do not penetrate eachother with their sex organs. Homosexual women also do not deposit their eggs in eachother wastefully (from a reproductive stances) whereas homosexual men do deposit their semen in eachother.
Every other thing that contributes unequally against gay men vs. gay women stems from these physical facts and the social architypes and social norms that grow from these root facts.
