It's a suburb of Los Angeles to the north of downtown. I live in San Francisco that is just over 400 miles north of LA. I go down there occasionally for a change of scenery. I'm glad to be back home. Hollywood can be amusing. I recall seeing old ladies wearing mink coats in 80 degree weather there. I see as many movie stars in Frisco as in Hollywood.

Hollywood is in California, If you mean where is hollywood as in "IM GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!! (a-la american idol), its actually Los Angeles California. Most of the studios are in Burbank, Studio City or Taluca Lake.
