at 24 I was already too old for the gay scene. What a joke...I'm 57 and let me tell you it gets BETTER with age...much better...I wish I had known then what I know now....I'm sure that only GLBTs my age will understand this. But now people my age just look like people my age and I find them attractive as well. I never thought I'd feel like this....did you??

I agree like a fine wine it improves with age! The thing about the scene is it can be seen a young person's domain with all the drugs, music and sex. It is one of the strange hypocrisies of the gay community, but 'older' people should have settled down and got their own home. Further to that it can be perceived as a threat. What is a man doing out drinking and partying at that age. Trust me anything over 30 can be seen as 'old' to some. The reality is there alot of gay people on their own through choice or circumstance, so my argument is why shouldn't they enjoy themselves. Screw the cynics go out enjoy yourself, as I am sure you know how. As I fully intend to do so for many years to come.

I can remember thinking anybody over 30 was elderly.

about 30 years ago, if you remember, the middle age and up got sick and died. There wasn't very many 30 to 60 year olds for a long time. Now that my generation has been in that age range for nearly a generation... and we see the next generation hitting mid-twenties... it's a different story. I notice that the younger generation is MUCH more likely to be attracted to and socialize with my generation than we were at their age.

In 1985, a 24 year old WAS old in the gay community.

Most people are afraid of getting old. When we were young, we only saw the bad parts of getting old. When we grow older, we only see the good parts of having been young. Life plays games with us. Enjoy the game.

The thing I notice about being over 40 is that I don't feel older on the inside, and often forget my chronological age. I am grateful for the wisdom I have now. No matter what people may think, it only comes with experience and some mileage! I do not intend to stop growing because of age and I definitely won't live in any kind of a box or category either!

I'm 32, and I'm much happier and more secure now than I was in my 20s. I think it's kind of a universal thing.

And I hope the guy who told you that grew up to learn better.

I wish I had enjoyed my youth more, that is the only regret I have about getting older
