My fiance and I was just talking about kids (in the long run), he said if he has a boy he wants to name him after him.. I do understand that he wants his child to carry his name ewtc..but is it that serious? If we have a boy I want to name him a different name. How do I meet my fiance in the middle??

Do just that... meet him in the middle. Make a game where you and yours list as many other names to mingle with his name. Thus creating a hybred name. This will allow him to feel a great connection to his son, (it is this "connection" that he seeks-and the ownership a namesake carries). Explain to him that just to "re-name" or hand down a name, though a great name it is...just seems somehow not enough for the son of "x" (you get where this is going??? lug him up!! then let the fun start.

ask him if it would be ok if the child say has his first and last name but has a different middle name. Tell him that you understand him wanting to name his son after him but you were thinking about a different middle name. I did that. My son is 12 now. His first name and last name is after his daddy and he has my dad's first name as his middle. good luck with it

I HATE GUYS WHO NAME SON AFTER HIM !!!!!!
I work for insurance company and u dont know how many times checks got ruined or benefits or junk mail or pension checks ALL because Mr. Charles Smith had a son Charles Smith, Jr. and then Charles Smith III. then theres Charles A. Smith in same state getting confused with Charles W. Smith, Jr. that worked for company for 30 years and dies 7 yrs ago. good luck

you will agree eventually.......the carrying on his name.....last name is carring on his name......you could use his first or middle name for the child middle name.......then he gets 2 and you pick the first name

have more than one baby or else compromise, let him pick either the first or middle name and you pick the other name.
