I am going thru a divorce and I do know my ex has an injured knee that needs to be replaced . But, he has always told half truths to me and I am clueless. He is on liquid Methadone prescribed by his Dr. , could there be another reason why? Like maybe he was once addicted to vicodin?

There are two uses for methadone. One is for heroin addicts and the other is for chronic pain patients. However, there are normally several differences.

Chronic pain patients are normally taking low doses fo methadone app. twice a day to three times a day. Their medicine is in pill form and they have it at their house. They will only have a month's supply though.

If the methadone is being used for heroin withdrawal, the dosage is very high. It is normally given in liquid form because heroin addicts will save up the drug and use it to get high. The person has to go in to a clinic 2-3 times a week to get their methadone.

I would seriously doubt that methadone would be used because of a vicodin addiction as methadone is much stronger than vicodin (5/500). In addition, methadone is as addicting as heroin. The theory is that they can titrate the person off the methadone easier than the heroin. If that is his story, then I would talk with my lawyer as warning bells should be going off.

Ahhh, Methadone is usually prescribed to addicts to help them get through the detox process from some drug. I have a knee injury and have never heard of methadone being used; I think your ex is, let's see, blowing smoke up your A.S*S. I suggest asking a Doc about this just to make sure, seriously speaking.

Methadone is traditionally used to maintain heroin addicts. It is probably not prescribed for pain, as Methadone is VERY difficult to detox from. Sometimes worse than getting off the heroin.

So, yes all signs point to his addiction to Heroin. Methadone is used as a bridge to detox off, but it is also harder to kick than heroin. It is a small possibility that it is prescibed 4 pain , ask to speak with his doctor.

Like maybe.....d'uh It is most commonly used for maintenance while detoxing from narcotics like heroin, morphine, and vicodan too.
Methodone is also sometimes used for cancer pain that is unresponsive to other opioids. But not for a sore knee...
