a multiple of a number x is the number x multiplied by any whole number, a factor is any whole number which divides x evenly (without remainder)

4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 etc are all multiples of 2
A factor of 14 is 7 since 14 = 7 * 2 Notice that 2 is also a factor of 14.
A factor of 90 is 3 since 90 = 30 * 3 Another factor of 90 is 6 since 90 = 6 * 15
These are examples.

The factors of a number (let the number be x) are numbers that when you divide the factor to x, will result to a whole number. The multiple of a number (let the number be y) are numbers that when you divide y to the multiple, the result will be a whole number.
x/factor= whole number
multiple/y= whole number

Multiple is defined by Addition when adding some equal numbers.
Factor is defined as inverse of Multiple to find what number should be multiplied with given number to get given result. This definition is as definition of Subtraction from Addition.
In fact you can see that all algebraic operations on numbers can be and should be defined from one operation: the Addition
