economy. And I guess I am looking at it from a technology standpoint. I work in the software industry and there seems to now be enormous pressure to compete globally. Is this not the case in other industries?

It just seems there two much focus on party politics when we have an enormous problem on our hands economically!!

Allow the jobs which require lesser skills to be outsourced as is any case happening now, concentrate on the cutting edge technologies. Read "The World is flat" by Thomas Friedman.

Now it's about being smart. You need to use energy but use it where it counts. You can't get a high pay if you work like a work horse anymore. With more people on the planet, efficiency and propper skills are required.
