same thing i tell my girlfriend who has the same fear. "the dark cant hurt you its okay. The only ting about the dark that is bad is you might not see your cat and step on his/her tail. Dark is just like light. Its dark inside your body all the time and nothing bad happens in there so why would something bad happen out of it." i usualy end with a kiss and i say "i love you baby" but you may want to just stick to "i love you sis" hope she gets over this fear of the dark sux.

Chronological age is not a good measurement of maturity/mental age. She may be 27 of age chronologically, but in this fear, she's still a child. This fear has followed her throughout the years ever since she was a child. So, to cure her of her fear, a qualified person has to help her find the cause for her fear.
Once the cause is identified, the right solution can be found.

Im 27 and have niggly little fears as well. Its normal for anyone of any age to have 1 or more fear's. As long as that fear does not overrule or lead your life. If you think this fear of your sister's is so disturbing send her to a doctor so that they can refer her to a phobia specialist. You alone cant help her.

Tell your sister that everyone has fears, some people fear spiders, flying, heights, water, clowns, even Superman had kryptonite. As long as the fear doesn't consume her and affect her daily living, she'll be fine.

my cousin is 27 and she still picks her nose. We are all kind of weird in our own way and that is OKAY. Like Popeye said: I yam what I yam.
