Go here:

Click on Evaluate your Current PC. Run the program it installs - it takes a few minutes (about 10 on my computer - a 2.8 GHz P4 with 1.5 GB RAM).

What makes you think Vista will be any better than xp. They all run off of msdos which is fundamentally flawed, cannot be fixed. Vista requires new hardware. Kiss all your old computers good bye. Don't waste your hard earned money on this crap. Do yourself a favour and buy new Mac. You'll thank yourself. Imagine a world without malware. That's heaven, buy a Mac.
If your adventurous try out Gnu/Linux. Go to distrowatch.com and download pclinuxos, ubuntu or Mepis. These are all live CDs. Burn the iso image to disc then insert the disc in the cd drive, reboot your computer and have fun. Happy exploring!

There are multiple different websites that offer free scan utilities to see if you are Vista capable. I suggest pcpitstop.com They offer the most comprehensive results. (User-Friendly) And very easy to understand.
